Check out my weekly update #7 right here.

My writing on Medium has been a bit curtailed this week. The reason: I’ve been on a canoe trip along the Caledonian Canal, a waterway that spans the Great Glen in Scotland.

You can see the route right here:

With a small group of fellow canoeists, I started on Monday at Fort William and reached Inverness on Friday.

In the meantime I had only my mobile phone to go on — a surprisingly decent signal, but limited battery life. Not ideal for writing!

The trip was an incredible experience, and one I’d heartily recommend. Although the whole route is 100 kilometres, it doesn’t require as much fitness as you might think. Just a bit of patience and resilience, and a willingness to camp out in the open.

Though Loch Ness is really long.

I didn’t see Nessie, but I am sure she is lurking down there somewhere…
